Virtual Juror: Lou Mansur

Lou’s interest in woodworking began early, when his father gave him treasures like a small block plane, a jackknife, magnets and a magnifying glass. Early on he borrowed his father’s and grandfather’s hammers, chisels and saws for “experiments”. As he developed his career as a scientist in the field of physics of materials, a background that has proven especially useful in woodworking, he always made space in life for woodworking. With time Lou cultivated a much deeper interest in design and craftsmanship. He receives great enjoyment from woodworking, tackling projects that present design challenges and promise to improve skills and understanding.

Lou is a juried member and past president of the East Tennessee Woodworkers Guild. He’s the head of the jury committee for the ETWG and served as juror for several woodworking shows.

Lou’s pieces have been shown in numerous exhibits and have received best-of-show awards. He is pleased to be allowed to place work in the homes of clients, family, and friends. Pieces include tables, desks, seating, cabinets, boxes, and large turnings. The “museum” at home continues to grow.
